WELCOME TO OUR HOME
Granaiolo Sotto 4, Bibbiano, Buonconvento, Siena, Tuscany.
The property, converted from partly medieval farm-
buildings in 1990, is set in beautiful, tranquil countryside
some 20 miles south of the magical city of Siena and 3 miles
from the market-town of Buonconvento. It has been restored using traditional materials, preserving beams and terracotta roofs and floors. Gas-fired central heating is fitted throughout and there is a huge Tuscan-style open fireplace. It is furnished to an exceptionally high standard as the owners' second home.
The house is peaceful but not isolated being one of 7 large properties in two groups standing in 8 acres of land overall. We share a 65ft. swimming pool of unique design "the finest pool in Tuscany " with views over the valley from the pool itself. We also share an all-weather tennis court.
Our substantial garden offers privacy. There is a lawn to the rear and terracing on three sides of the house. The largest of these terraces overlooks the valley, and is partly covered by a pergola, with a fixed marble-topped dining table seating 8/10 for idyllic outdoor eating. You can relax in comfortable loungers or chairs with a choice of sun or shade all day.
Inside, the house is cool and white with high-quality furnishings throughout. The high-ceilinged kitchen has country style cabinets, dishwasher, oven & hob. Cutlery, glasses and kitchen utensils are provided. The adjoining utility room has a washer-drier, scrubbing sink, and a microwave oven. An arch separates the kitchen from the dining-room which seats 8 at a walnut refectory style table.
Through the hall is the 32 ft. long sitting-room , a cool elegant room with formal and casual seating, split in two by a medieval arch and steps.
The lower half has a music player, video and widescreen satellite television (Sky Italia which contains many English-speaking programmes including Sport and Films). In the upper half is a huge open fire-place and French-windows onto the rear terrace.
Off the hall (where a telephone is available) is a bathroom with a large forceful shower, loo and basin. A wide stone-flagged staircase leads to the first-floor. Ahead of you is the guest suite of twin-bedded room (overlooking the rear garden) and bathroom. All the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and shelving and all linen is provided except swimming towels. Off the landing with similar garden views are two twin-bedded rooms one of which has a shower-room opposite.
The main suite of double bedroom, sitting-room and bathroom has lovely views over the valley and surrounding countryside. You can see more medieval castles from the property than houses!
The features of the area are too numerous to mention - every village is a history story. We are well located for visits to all Tuscan/Umbrian centres such as Florence and Assisi . Dining out can be sophisticated or simple and the local wines are world-renowned. We hope you will wish to visit our home and sample them for yourself.
Should you do so we will provide you with detailed house notes and local guidelines. Our rental charges include everything except telephone calls and swimming towels.
The British couple who manage the condominium live close by and organise any necessary support locally.
